The training data is the culprit — it is the most edited, most optimised writing the internet has produced, and the models learned it faithfully.
We are building the opposite of that. Not better AI writing — worse, in the specific ways that matter. The run-on sentence that happens when a thought is still forming. The aside that probably shouldn't be there but is. The hesitation that makes a reader trust what comes after it.
